Products and specifications

Is your chilli powder 100 percent chilli?

Yes. Our standard powders are 100 percent dried red chilli with nothing added: no salt, oil, starch, anti-caking agent, colour or flavouring. If you ask for a blend with a carrier or salt, every ingredient is declared by percentage on the specification and the label.

Which varieties do you supply?

Teja S17, Sannam S4 (334), 341, Byadgi and Kashmiri-type as powder, whole dried pods and flakes, plus fixed-ratio custom blends. We also supply turmeric powder. Each product page lists the typical SHU, ASTA colour, moisture and mesh.

Can you hit a specific ASTA colour value or SHU pungency?

Yes. Tell us the target, or use the Heat and Colour map on this site to find the nearest single variety or blend. We verify every blend at an accredited laboratory using ASTA 20.1 for colour and HPLC for pungency before we fix the ratio.

What mesh sizes are available?

40, 60 and 80 mesh for powder; flakes are cut at 2 to 6 mm with seeds in, reduced or removed. Whole pods are graded by length and breakage.

What moisture level do you pack at?

Below 10 percent for powder and flakes and below 12 percent for whole pods, verified on the batch certificate of analysis. Lower moisture can be specified for long transit or humid destinations.

Food safety and treatment

How do you reduce microbial load and control Salmonella?

We match the treatment to your market. Steam sterilisation at a validated facility is our default for the EU, UK and any buyer who does not accept ethylene oxide. ETO treatment is available for the USA and other markets where it is permitted. Sun-dried, untreated material is supplied to extractors and processors who run their own kill step. Each treated lot ships with a treatment certificate.

Is ETO-treated chilli allowed in Europe?

No. Ethylene oxide is not approved for use on food in the European Union. For dried chilli the EU applies a residue limit of 0.02 mg/kg, and since 2021 one in five consignments of dried Capsicum from India is checked for it at the border under Regulation 2019/1793. That is why we steam-sterilise European orders, test every EU lot for ethylene oxide and never mix ETO-treated stock into them.

Do you test for Sudan dyes and aflatoxin?

Yes. Every export lot is tested at an NABL-accredited laboratory for Sudan dyes I to IV, aflatoxin B1 and total aflatoxins, moisture and the microbiological parameters you specify. The report accompanies the shipment and can be issued within three months of dispatch, as most European buyers require.

What about pesticide residues and EU MRLs?

We source from farmer groups whose crop history and pre-harvest intervals we track, and we can arrange a multi-residue pesticide screen from an NABL-accredited laboratory on the shipment lot before dispatch. Tell us your MRL requirement at enquiry stage so the sourcing is planned to meet it.

Will each shipment carry a batch-specific certificate of analysis?

Yes. A batch-specific COA covering colour, pungency, moisture, ash, Sudan dyes, aflatoxin and microbiology is standard. Additional parameters are added to the testing plan at your request.

Ordering, samples and logistics

What is the minimum order quantity?

2,000 kg per product for powder and flakes, and one 20 ft container for whole pods. We consider trial orders below MOQ for new buyers who start with our sample programme.

Can I get samples before ordering?

Yes. Representative samples of 250 g, 500 g or 1 kg per product are dispatched by courier, usually within five working days of your request. Courier charges are quoted per destination; laboratory testing of samples at your end is welcome.

Which Incoterms do you quote?

FOB Kakinada, Visakhapatnam or Chennai is our standard. If you prefer, we quote CFR or CIF to your port and can arrange DAP delivery through our freight partners, so you receive one landed price.

How much fits in a container?

In 25 kg bags, a 20 ft container carries about 16 to 18 metric tonnes of chilli powder and a 40 ft high-cube about 24 to 25 tonnes. Whole pods are bulky: about 6 to 7 tonnes in a 20 ft (more when stemless) and 13 to 14 tonnes in a 40 ft high-cube. The specification builder on this site estimates the container count for your quantity.

What is your lead time?

Two to three weeks from order confirmation to container stuffing for standard specifications, plus treatment and testing time. Transit to Europe is typically four weeks from the east coast of India; the export page lists indicative transit times by destination.

What documents come with the shipment?

Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, batch certificate of analysis, treatment certificate, the Export Inspection Council health certificate with the Spices Board analytical report for EU lots, and any declarations your import requires (allergen, non-GMO, Sudan-dye free). Details are listed on the export page.

Do you sell to consumers or only in bulk?

We export in bulk to importers, distributors, manufacturers and brands. We do not run a consumer web shop, but we pack private-label retail sizes for our importers.
