Teja S17 chilli powder
The hottest of the Guntur commercial varieties. Thin skin, high capsaicin, favoured by extractors and hot-sauce makers.
Bright red, medium depth
About Teja S17
Teja (S17) is grown across Guntur and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh and Khammam district of Telangana, and is India's benchmark high-pungency chilli. The pods are slender, thin-skinned and dry to a bright red. Ground Teja gives a sharp, clean heat with moderate colour, which makes it the first choice for oleoresin extraction (it gave the highest oleoresin yield among nineteen Indian cultivars in a published comparison), hot sauces, instant noodle seasonings and blended masalas where pungency is the selling point.
