Sannam S4 (334) chilli powder
The classic Guntur export chilli. Balanced heat and colour, thick skin, the variety most of the world already knows.
Red, medium depth
About Sannam S4
Sannam, also traded as S4 or 334 (the LCA-334 variety bred at Lam, Guntur), is the highest-volume chilli grown in the Guntur belt and carries the Guntur Sannam geographical indication (GI application 143, registered 2010). Pods are long with a thick, glossy skin that grinds to a fine powder with a balanced profile: enough heat for everyday cooking and a natural red finish. It is the workhorse variety for spice packers, seasoning manufacturers and food service worldwide, and the reference against which most Indian chilli powder is priced.
